Railway industry

Railway wheel turning is characterized by the machining of large-volume components and large cutting depths. The different train types mean that these wheels have very different characteristics and requirements.

For the turning of new wheels, high-pressure toolholders with internal coolant and inserts are available that offer a machining for the entire profile of any railway wheel, whereas for the re-turning of worn wheels, there are toolholders and specific inserts that allow to machine them and make them as good as new.
