In recent years, Canela has been continuously expanding its range of indexable inserts and integral tools, in order to offer the maximum number of solutions in the mould and die sector.
The different materials of the workpieces, their variety of sizes and the different machining operations that may be required in the mould and die sector make having the right cutting tool paramount. Canela offers numerous milling tools that help in the production of short batches in specific applications. Within this range of tools we can find the high feed milling cutters, which with the unique design of their insert pockets, are suitable for roughing operations. They are available in diameters from 16 to 80 mm, with multiple design options.
Another key milling operation in mould and die is copying. Canela’s family of milling tools with indexable inserts includes the milling cutters for RDHW super-positive round inserts for semi-finishing and finishing of steels, hardened steels and cast irons.
Ball nose end mills from Alberg, a subsidiary of the Canela Group, support 3D profile milling and contouring of complex surfaces. The range for hardened steels is available in short to extra long lengths and features a double radius to reduce cutting forces and support higher feeds. All of them are designed to withstand the radial forces generated when machining hardened steels, while their reinforced design increases stability and material removal rates.
